Premalu, the recently released romantic comedy, has now emerged as one of the biggest box office hits of 2024 so far. The Griish AD directorial, which features young actors Naslen and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles, has been receiving immense love from the audiences for its fun-filled storytelling and excellent performances. When it completed its first weekend at the box office, Premalu reportedly crossed the prestigious Rs. 20 crore mark with its worldwide collection.
As per the latest updates by the Forum Reelz X handle, Premalu has made a total collection of around Rs. 21 crore from the worldwide box office. Recent reports suggest that Naslen and Mamitha Baiju’s romantic comedy has made a collection of around Rs. 14 crore from the Kerala box office alone. This is undoubtedly an extraordinary box office collection for a movie which has been made with young talents headlining its star cast. If things proceed at the same rate, it is safe to assume that Premalu will cross the Rs. 25 crore mark at the box office in just a couple of days.
The spectacular box office performance of the romantic comedy also suggests that it has a chance to enter even the Rs. 50 crore club of Malayalam cinema in its lifetime run. Notably, the massive release of Bramayugam, the Mammootty starrer, has not impacted the Premalu's box office performance as the movie is headed into its second weekend. It is evident that the Girish AD directorial is going to have a stronghold at the theatres, even in the coming weeks.
If the recent updates are to be believed, Premalu will have its OTT release after completing 30 days of its theatrical release. In that case, the movie might hit the small screens mostly in March 2024. The reports by Yahoo claim that OTT giant Netflix is the frontrunner for the online streaming rights to the romantic comedy. However, the makers of Naslen and Mamitha Baiju’s film have not confirmed these reports officially yet.
