Premadesam is a romance drama that marked the directorial debut of Srikanth Siddham. The film, which hit theatres on February 3 this year, was bankrolled by Shireesha Siddham under Siri Creative works. Megha Akash, Thrigun, Ajay Kathurvar, Maya, Madhubala, Shiva Ramachandra, Vaishnavi Chaitanya, Thanikella Barani, Viva Harsha and Kamal Teja Narla essay key roles in the film.
While the film earned mixed reviews upon release and received moderate response at the theatres, it premiered on OTT this weekend. Streaming giant Amazon Prime Video acquired the post-theatrical digital rights and released the film on Friday. Premadesam is named after a cafe in the romance which is witness to several crucial sequences revolving around the pivotal characters.
The story takes off with Arjun(Thrigun) falling in love with a college student Aadhya(Megha Akash). When he is all set to propose to her, he meets with an accident. Maya (Maya), who has a tragic past with Rishi(Ajay Kathurvar) and forcibly marries Shiva(Ramachandra), drives the car. How does the car accident alter the course of Arjun and Aadhya’s lives? How are these stories connected to one other?
Popular composer Mani Sharma, who awaits the release of Shaakuntalam next, scored the music for Premadesam. Sajad Kaakku handled the cinematography of the film edited by Kiran Thumpera. Ravi Kumar is the art director while Eshwar Penti is the choreographer for the song sequences. Roopa is the stylist and the stunts are directed by Real Satish and Dragon Prakash respectively. Noted music label Saregama acquired the film’s audio rights.
OTTplay in its review of the film wrote, “Prema Desam has a good plot which is not handled properly. The romance and performances are good but the routine plot, repeated scenes and lack of engaging drama derail the film in multiple areas. Those who love romantic dramas will like a few scenes but for the rest, the film does not live up to the iconic title and hype created.”
