After making a name for himself with his splendid performance in the much-talked about and also the much-appreciated web series ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’, Pratik Gandhi is now all set to add yet another feather in his cap of stellar performances. This time round, he is all set to play the iconic role of Mahatma Gandhi in the web series titled ‘Gandhi’, as per a report in IANS.

Pratik Gandhi super excited about the role

It’s totally needless to say that Pratik Gandhi is super excited to be playing the role of Mahatma Gandhi. Speaking about the role, Pratik Gandhi said that for him, it was an important role (of his career). He added that the said web series would be one of the biggest shows of his life. He reasoned the same as he was playing the essential role of the illustrious freedom fighter Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He also added that they (the show’s makers) have tried their best to show the life and journey of Mahatma Gandhi and that this was one the very first shows to be depicting something like that in the history of entertainment.

Pratik Gandhi's big responsibility as an actor

Pratik Gandhi also went on to confess that he realised his big responsibility as an actor when he was first asked to play the role. The actor explained the same by stating that he had been playing his Mahatma Gandhi’s role on the stage for many years. While speaking about the qualities of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of nation, Pratik Gandhi said that the one quality which had inspired him the most was his simplicity. He added that he had seen people around him who have adapted to the simplicity, something that he gets inspired by.

As for the web series ‘Gandhi’, while it is being directed by Hansal Mehta, it has been based on the works of the renowned historian Ramachandra Guha. The series is being produced by Applause Entertainment. The series will be reportedly shot in India, South Africa and England.
