The cast and crew of debutant Nikhil Muraly’s Pranaya Vilasam have been tight-lipped about the film’s story till the eve of its release. The trailer of the film, which has Arjun Ashokan, Anaswara Rajan and Mamitha Baiju in the lead, was released a day before the film hit theatres on February 24 and hinted at a romance that spans generations.

The trailer also shows glimpses of a father-son misunderstanding that stems from the former apparently finding his lost love in the most inopportune of places. The film hints at shuttling between the father’s past and present while also looking into what happens in the son’s life. Arjun and Mamitha seem to be playing a couple in the present timeline, while Anaswara’s character belongs to the father’s timeline.

The movie, which is directed by debutant Nikhil Muraly, also has Miya, Hakkim Shah and Manoj KU, who plays the father, in pivotal roles. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Nikhil, without giving much away about the storyline, said, “We want this story to reach the family audience through the today’s popular young actors – Arjun, Mamitha and Anaswara. Though Pranaya Vilasam is told from the youth’s point of view, it’s a purely family-oriented movie.”

Shaan Rahman has composed the music for Pranaya Vilasam, which is scripted by Sunu W and Jyothish M. The team had completed the shoot of the film in Kannur and Kanhangad last year and its OTT and streaming rights were picked by ZEE5 and ZEE Malayalam much before its release date was announced.
