Fans of Malayalam films are spoilt for choice this weekend. As many as seven movies – big and small – have released on OTT as well as theatres. It’s also a week where actresses Bhavana and Nithya Das will be making their comeback with movies such as Ntikkakkakkoru Premondarnn and Pallimani, respectively.
Pranaya Vilasam, Santosham, Oh My Darling and Ntikkakkakkoru Premondarnn are also helmed by debutant filmmakers. Two big films that have made their way to OTT this week are Mammootty’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam and Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Thankam. Here’s the full list of films for you to pick from as your weekend watch.
Ntikkakkakkoru Premondarnn

Adhil M Asharaf’s debut directorial, which has Sharafudheen and Bhavana in pivotal roles, revolves around former lovers Jimmy and Nithya catching up after years together. Jimmy is now married and has a kid while his wife is supportive of him meeting with Nithya. The film also has Ashokan and Anarkali Nazar in pivotal roles.
Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam

Mammootty and Lijo Jose Pellissery’s drama, which is scripted by S Hareesh, revolves around a theatre artiste, James, who on his way back from Velankanni suddenly begins to behave like Sundaram, a Tamilian who had passed away five years ago. While James carries on as Sundaram, both their families are caught unaware, not knowing what to do.
Pranaya Vilasam
Release platform: Theatre
Super Sharanya trio of Arjun Ashokan, Anaswara Rajan and Mamitha Baiju reunite in this feel-good entertainer that revolves around the various kinds of romance. Hakkim Shah, Manoj KU and Miya also play pivotal roles in the movie, which is directed by debutant Nikhil Muraly and scripted by Jyothish M and Sunu W.
Oh My Darling
Release platform: Amazon Prime Video
Debutant Alfred D’Samuel’s feel-good romcom revolves around a college student Jenny and her carefree boyfriend Joel, and how an adversity forces them to re-evaluate their relationship. The movie, which marks Anikha Surendran’s debut Malayalam movie as a heroine, also has Melvin G Babu, Mukesh, Johny Antony, Lena and Manju Pillai.
Santhosham
Release platform: Theatre
Anu Sithara, Kalabhavan Shajohn and Amith Chakalakkal star in this Ajith V Thomas directorial, which revolves around a family comprising a husband and wife, their two daughters and a grandmother. The various equations with the family, especially between the siblings who have an age difference of over 15 years, are the highlights of Santhosham.
Thankam
Release platform: Amazon Prime Video
After goldsmith Kannan goes missing in Mumbai, his colleagues and the Maharashtra police launch an investigation tracing his whereabouts as well as events that led him from Thrissur to Coimbatore and finally in Mumbai. The Saheed Arafath directorial, which is scripted by Syam Pushkaran, has Vineeth Sreenivasan, Biju Menon, Aparna Balamurali and Girish Kulkarni as part of the cast.
Pallimani
Release platform: Theatre
After being hunted by a serial killer with a dark past, a family comprising the husband, his pregnant wife and their two children hide in an abandoned church. But await them there are more horrors. The movie, directed by Anil Kumbazha, has Nithya Das, Kailash and Shweta Menon and is scripted by KV Anil.
Boomerang
Release platform: Theatre
Samyuktha Menon, Shine Tom Chacko, Chemban Vinod Jose and Dain Davis star in this film, which revolves around a group of men who are scandalmongerers. How their loose talk affect a woman and how she gets back at them form the plot of this Manu Sudhakaran directorial.
