After his superhit Hridayam, Pranav Mohanlal has expanded his fanbase, and not just in Kerala. Considering that he has been highly selective, having signed only three movies in the past four years, news of his upcoming films is eagerly awaited and the latest rumour was that the actor has given his dates to a young hit filmmaker.
Pranav, who had starred in Jeethu Josph’s Aadi, Arun Gopy’s Irupathionnaam Noottaandu and Hridayam, was reported to have signed a film with Helen director Mathukutty Xavier. Hridayam filmmaker Vineeth had produced and acted in Mathukutty’s Helen, which released in 2019.
However, Mathukutty took to his social networking page to clarify that though he would love to collaborate with Pranav, his next project doesn’t have the young actor in the lead. The filmmaker also said that his next film is in the pre-production phase and he would announce the details soon.
We also hear that the actor has been in talks with several leading filmmakers including Anjali Menon and Anwar Rasheed for his upcoming movies. There are also rumours of Pranav having signed up a movie with Nazriya Nazim, who was recently seen in the Telugu movie Ante Sundaraniki opposite Nani. An official confirmation regarding the films is awaited.
Mathukutty, meanwhile, has completed shooting for Helen’s Bollywood remake titled Milli, which has Janhvi Kapoor in the lead. The filmmaker, who had won a National Film Award for Best Debut Director, will be making his Bollywood debut with Milli, which is produced by Boney Kapoor and is expected to release later this year.
The filmmaker is also part of Philips, which is helmed by Helen co-writer Alfred Kurian Joseph. Mathukutty has written the script of the movie, starring Mukesh and Noble Babu Thomas, along with Alfred, who is making his directorial debut.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Alfred had said that Philips is a light-hearted family entertainer revolving around Mukesh’s titular character and his three children. The movie, which was shot in Kochi and Bengaluru, is based on a true incident.
