Director and actor Pradeep Ranganathan, who made the successful film Love Today which was remade in Hindi as Loveyapa, revealed what were the reasons the latter did not work wonders at the box office like the Tamil version did. Read on to know what Pradeep Ranganathan had to say about Loveyapa's failure.
With Pradeep Ranganathan busy with the promotions of his upcoming Tamil film Dragon, the filmmaker-actor was asked about why a remake of hit film like Love Today did not fare well in Hindi. For the unknown, Pradeep Ranganathan starred and directed Love Today, which was remade in Hindi as Loveyapa and released on February 7. The film starred Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan, and did not fare well.
Pradeep said that he had maintained a style, and said that the Hindi version missed the style which was done in Tamil. "It is like if the ball is caught a metre before the crease line, it is out. Otherwise, it would have been a sixer. When I saw the film, I had certain minute style misses. I thought probably I watched it a director. Maybe, the landing was not right."
The Love Today creator also said that he cannot judge the cultural setting of the film as well, and said, "Here, there was an image of normal boy, but there, both of them are star kids. We see them as star kids and perhaps that could be a reason as well. But I am unable to pin point to one reason.”
Love Today is available for streaming on Netflix. Also starring Ivana, Sathyaraj, Yogi Babu, and others, the film was a commercial blockbuster upon its release. It revolves around two young lovers who are asked to exchange their phones with each other for a day, by the girl’s father to prove their love and trust on each other.
