Veteran choreographer-turned-actor-turned-filmmaker Prabhu Deva, who was last seen in Bagheera, has signed his next. The title of the movie which has debutant SJ Sinu at the helm has a connection with one of the former's successful projects. Petta Rap is the title of the film which is produced by Jobi P Sam.

Kollywood fans know how popular Petta Rap song was from his blockbuster film directed by Shankar in 1994. Cinephiles are curious to know if the title could bring in the same luck for Prabhu this time around. Vedhika will be seen playing the female lead in the movie.

Imman will be composing music for the film which will go on floors soon. Dinil PK has written the screenplay for the movie which has cinematography and editing handled by Jithu Damodhar and San Lokesh respectively. AR Mohan will be handling art direction while Viveka and Madhan Karky are at the helm of lyrics.

Prabhu currently has Musasi, Rekla and Flashback in his kitty. Musasi is an action drama which has him essaying a cop while Rekla and Flashback are expected to be a rural drama and a family story respectively. One among the three is likely to be released this year, and an announcement, too, is awaited.

Prabhu Deva took to his Twitter page to express excitement on beginning work on Petta Rap. He was in the news a while ago when he shook legs for the popular song Naatu Naatu along with his team at the location of Shankar's Game Changer.

There are reports of him directing a new movie, but an official confirmation is awaited. He last helmed the Salman Khan-starrer Radhe which was released in 2021.
