Prabhas starrer Adipurush's IMAX release scrapped, giving advantage to The Flash

In a significant blow to the much-anticipated film Adipurush, Telugu superstar Prabhas' upcoming magnum opus will not be released in IMAX format. This unexpected turn of events comes as a shock to fans who were eagerly awaiting the grand cinematic experience that IMAX theatres provide.

Reports have confirmed that the multiplex chains have cited the unavailability of prints as the reason for Adipurush not being screened in both 2D and 3D IMAX versions. This unfortunate development has now paved the way for the Hollywood movie The Flash to occupy all the IMAX screens in India.

This news has left fans disappointed, as they were hoping to witness the grandeur and scale of Adipurush on the biggest screens possible. The absence of an IMAX release not only affects the movie's overall collection but also reflects poorly on the filmmakers, who have been grappling with a series of PR challenges.

Directed by Om Raut, Adipurush is a highly-anticipated big-screen adaptation of the mythological epic Ramayana. Initially slated for release in January, coinciding with the Sankranti celebrations this year, the film faced a setback when its teaser failed to meet fans' expectations. The teaser, unveiled at a grand event in Uttar Pradesh last year, surprised viewers with its live-animation format and subpar special effects, leading to widespread disappointment.

To address the negative response and rebuild audience confidence, the filmmakers decided to postpone the release and dedicated significant time, effort, and resources to enhance the film's quality. While the trailer received a relatively better response than the teaser, some fans remained sceptical, considering the cosmetic changes made to the film's visuals.

The final trailer for Adipurush was released recently , further adding to concerns about the movie's VFX quality. 

Besides Prabhas, Adipurush also stars Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan.
