Prabhas starrer Adipurush has collected close to Rs 500 crore from its pre-theatrical deals.

A lot has been riding on the commercial success of Adipurush, starring Telugu superstar Prabhas. Made on a whopping budget of Rs 500 crore, which is two times costlier than the global hit Baahubali 2, Adipurush carries massive expectations in terms of box-office collections. Now can it breach the Rs 1000 crore mark? It depends on the reviews and word of mouth it generates post its release this Friday. However, for now, the producers can heave a sigh of relief as the film has already raked close to Rs 500 crore in its pre-theatrical revenue.
The sale of theatrical distribution rights in the Telugu states alone has fetched the producers about Rs 155 crore in the Telugu states alone. Adipurush has created a new benchmark for Telugu cinema in this regard. And the sale of distribution rights from other parts of the country has earned Rs 120 crore as per the latest estimation by some trade experts. In addition to that the sale of the Adipurush's OTT rights and satellite rights has fetched another Rs 210 crore for the producers, putting them in a comfortable position. Amazon Prime Video has bagged the streaming rights to the movie. The producers can now easily earn back their full investment without a lot of trouble.
However, the successful performance of Adipurush is vital for all the stakeholders in the value chain, given they have bought the rights to its theatrical distribution for such premium rates.
Judging from the initial response to the advance booking for Adipurush, the movie is likely to take a massive opening across the country. Can it sustain that performance for some time remains uncertain. The teasers and trailers of Adipurush have received largely mixed reactions. Even the final trailer for Adipurush didn't do much to improve the confidence of the audience in the film's VFX quality, which is supposed to be its mainstay.
Written and directed by Om Raut, Adipurush is the cinematic adaptation of Rayamana. Besides Prabhas, the movie also stars Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles.
