Pottel is a Telugu film that was heavily promoted before its release. This village drama, made with a serious tone, was praised for its compelling storytelling and honest execution. However, despite the appreciation, the film disappointed everyone at the box office.
The situation became challenging for the makers as no buyers came forward for the digital rights for nearly two months. The latest update, however, is that Pottel’s OTT rights have been acquired by not one but two platforms. According to reports, Amazon Prime Video and Aha secured the digital rights for a significant price and have already begun streaming the film.
Interestingly, the film's OTT release happened quietly, with no prior announcement or promotion. This is quite surprising as Aha and Amazon Prime Video are known to promote their films in an aggressive manner ahead of their OTT releases.
The story of Pottel revolves around a shepherd determined to provide quality education to his daughter. However, after losing a sacred goat belonging to the village head, he is forced to sacrifice his daughter instead. This leads to a tense and emotional conflict within the village. Ajay played the main villain and he was terrific in the film and shocked one and all.
These dramatic elements are portrayed effectively, with Ajay delivering a powerful performance as the menacing village head. Yuva Chandra Krishna plays the lead role, supported by Ananya Nagalla, who plays the mother of the girl. Ananya, who has been striving for a breakthrough hit, received praise for her emotional and gripping performance.
Despite the film’s low budget, it features intense action sequences that impress viewers. Thanks to the OTT deal, the filmmakers managed to recover their investment and stay afloat, even though the agreement came late. It remains to be seen how Pottel will perform on streaming platforms in the coming days. Stay tuned for more updates.
