Post mixed reviews for Beast, Nelson Dilipkumar's Rajinikanth-starrer Thalaivar 169 dropped?

Director Nelson Dilipkumar's Vijay-starrer Beast, which released amid huge expectations on April 13, opened to mixed response among critics and the audience. Though the hostage thriller has been garnering good numbers at the box office during the five-day opening weekend, it has to be seen how the film will perform during the weekdays, considering the fact that KGF: Chapter 2 is having a dream run.

According to sources, the movie has breached the 200 crore mark, and is said to be the fifth project of the star to achieve the rare feat. Needless to say, all eyes are on Thalaivar 169 (tentative title) now, the next project of Nelson which stars Rajinikanth in the lead.

Fans of the Superstar have been concerned ever since Beast started receiving mixed reviews on social media after its FDFS was completed in many territories across the world. There has been speculation doing the rounds that Thalaivar 169 might be dropped.

A few days ago, there were reports that Superstar watched Beast at Sun Pictures' office. Nelson has now updated his Twitter bio; he has added Thalaivar 169 to the list of movies he has directed so far. This has now put an end to all rumours.

The announcement of Thalaivar 169 was officially made by Sun Pictures a couple of months ago. Anirudh Ravichander has been brought on board to compose music for the project which is expected to go on floors after June.

Though the team is yet to make an announcement with regard to the film's cast and crew, it is heard that Priyanka Mohan is likely to play an important role in the movie. She was the female lead in Nelson's Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Doctor. The actress was spotted at the FDFS of Beast along with the movie's crew at a popular theatre in Chennai.
