After a long wait, the crime thriller, Por Thozhil, finally made its digital premiere today (August 11). The cop murder mystery, starring Sarath Kumar and Ashok Selvan, is now streaming on Sony LIV and it looks like fans can't get enough of the edge-of-the-seat thriller. Social media has been abuzz with netizens raving about the film, which opened to positive reviews from critics and audience alike on its theatrical release.

It is to be noted that the makers deliberately delayed the OTT release to cash in on the popularity of the film, which had received steady footfalls in theatres weeks in the release. Por Thozhil is helmed by debutant Vignesh Raja.

The director had stated during the promotions that he was always drawn to subjects and films that revolved around serial killers, like Kuruthi Punal and Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. He added that he wanted to show a cop with a difference , hence he conceptualised the character of Ashokselvan in the film, who is timid.

Ashok Selvan had earlier told OTTplay in an interview. "This is the first time that I am playing a full-fledged cop role. I appeared as one in a small episode in Nitham Oru Vaanam. The best part about this role is that it's not the typical meesai murukkra cop, but someone who is a bit fearful. He is a rookie because he is a trainee."

The plot revolves around two Chennai-based cops, a veteran and a novice, who are on a mission to nab a serial killer in Trichy. As they progress with the investigation, they realise that the culprit they have been looking for is not the actual murderer. Will the duo be able to crack the case?

OTTplay critic wrote, "The film has a tightly-woven screenplay that aids in offering edge-of-the-seat moments, but the manner in which the investigation unfolds doesn't boast of novelty.

The film is streaming in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi on Sony LIV.
