Por stars Kalidas Jayaram and Arjun Das in the lead roles. The film, which is expected to be a campus action drama, also stars Sanchana Natrajan and TJ Bhanu as the female leads. The Hindi version of the film is called Dange and will have Harshvardhan Rane and Ehan Bhatt taking up the male lead roles. However, TJ Bhanu will feature in both versions.
Interestingly, Arjun Das, who is known for his angry young man look, will be playing a level-headed character, while Kalidas, known for his soft demeanour, will be playing an aggressive lad.
While Por will be a campus action drama, little is known about the actual plot. However, it is said to be inspired by true events that Bejoy Nambiar got the first account of. The film, which will be hypermasculine, will explore the concept of male ego and how one small incident snowballs into a riot between two groups. The trailer for the film was released recently, which showed the tension brewing between two groups of students while at the same time exploring the lives of the youngsters.
Por is written and directed by Bejoy Nambiar. However, like the rest of his works, the director collaborated with writers for the film. The screenplay has been penned by Bejoy Nambiar, Mithila Hegde, Francis Thomas and Neil Julian Balthazar, with dialogues written by Vignesh Srikanth. Anirudh Ramesh and Saraswati L have worked on the additional screenplay. Por is produced by T-Series and Bejoy Nambiar. The film is edited by Priyank Prem Kumar, and shot by Jimshi Khalid and Presley Oscar D'souza.
In an earlier conversation with OTTplay, Bejoy said that he had no reference point for Por a nd added that the film's main target audience is college-going youngsters and urban centres. Calling it also entertaining, Bejoy said that the film will explore the psyche of male ego through the lens of the two protagonists.
Concurring with the same, Arjun also revealed how he was determined to play the calm and level-headed Prabhu in the film as opposed to the angry young man played by Kalidas. The actor also said that he tries to spend time with the directors he works with to understand the role, and he applied the same process to Por as well.
