It's a twin treat for Antony Varghese fans on OTT platforms this week. The actor's previous two releases Poovan and Oh Meri Laila are set to release on different streaming platforms.

His much-awaited movie Poovan, which had hit theatres in January, has finally locked its release date after several delays. The movie’s OTT rights were bought by ZEE5 before it had hit theatres. The platform had also announced several release dates before confirming that the comedy will begin streaming from March 24. Poovan will be available to stream on OTTplay Premium.

The movie marked the directorial debut of actor Vineeth Vasudevan and the scriptwriting debut of actor Varun Dhara. Both of them were part of Super Sharanya, which incidentally is also streaming on ZEE5.

Poovan revolves around a series of incidents that happen to three families in a neighbourhood after a rooster arrives. Hari (Antony Varghese) blames his ill-fate on the rooster, especially after his sister elopes with a man he doesn’t approve of and its constant crows exacerbate his insomnia.

The film, which also has Sajin Cherukayil, Maniyanpilla Raju, Girish AD and Vineeth Vishwam, showcases the incidents that happen in the lives of Hari and his neighbours, and how the rooster plays an important role in shaping up these.

It’s also a film that saw Antony break away from his action avatar. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Vineeth said, “Antony has previously essayed a lot of angry characters. Compared to those films, this is a simple entertainer. The movie doesn’t just revolve around his character; it tells the story of those in his neighbourhood. It’s akin to some of the Sathyan Anthikad films that we have seen in the past.”

Antony’s Oh Meri Laila, which is a romcom, is also set to begin streaming this week. The film’s OTT rights have been bought by Saina Play, which had released Roshan Mathew and Swasika’s Chathuram earlier in the month.
