We had earlier reported that actor Suriya will be collaborating with director Karthik Subbaraj for a film that is tentatively titled Suriya 44. Now, the new update surrounding the project is that actor Pooja Hegde will be playing the female lead in the film. However, an official announcement on the same has yet to be made.
Pooja Hegde in Suriya 44?
As per a DT Next report, actor Pooja Hedge, who has appeared in Tamil films like Beast and Mugamoodi, has been roped in to play the female lead in Suriya 44. It is to be noted that this will be the first time Pooja will be sharing the screen space with Suriya and working with Karthik Subbaraj.

As per the report, the makers of Suriya 44 will be shooting in the Andaman Islands from the first week of June and Pooja is expected to join them there. A single schedule of 40 days will be shot before filming begins in Ooty. Malayalam actor Joju George, who was seen in Karthik Subbaraj's Jagame Thandhiram, is also expected to be seen playing a pivotal role, the report added. Pooja Hedge was last seen in the Salman Khan-starrer Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and in the Tamil film Beast, which was released in 2022.
Santhosh Narayanan in Suriya 44
Meanwhile, recently, the makers of Suriya 44 announced officially that composer Santhosh Narayanan will be scoring for the film. The musician is a regular collaborator of Karthik Subbaraj and has composed for the filmmaker’s last film, Jigarthanda Double X, as well. The film will be co-produced by Suriya's home banner, 2D Entertainment and Karthik's Stone Bench Films.
Meanwhile, Suriya was last seen making a cameo appearance in Vikram as Rolex. His role is expected to be featured more in the upcoming LCU films. The actor’s next release will be Kanguva with director Siva. The film is expected to hit theatres later this year. Suriya will also collaborate with filmmaker Sudha Kongara of Soorarai Pottru fame for Suriya 43.
