Actors Santhosh and Sara Arjun were noticed for their sizzling chemistry in Mani Ratnam’s 2023 magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan. They have been roped in to play lead roles in debutant director Sanaa Mariam’s upcoming film. The film is touted as a romantic drama and is being produced by director Sundar C and actress Kushboo’s home banner, Avni Productions.
Sources claim that an official announcement about the upcoming film will be unveiled on an auspicious occasion.
Sanaa Mariam is the daughter of the late director and cinematographer Jeeva, who directed films like 12B and Unnale Unnale. She worked as an assistant director with Mani Ratnam for over five years. Interestingly, Sanaa was the assistant director on his period drama Ponniyin Selvan, in which Santhosh and Sara played the roles of young Aditya Karikalan and Nandhini, respectively.
It is also speculated that director Shankar’s daughter, actress Aditi Shankar, has also been approached to play one of the lead characters. However, Sara has signed on the dotted line already, as per confirmed sources.
A romantic film, it will be an interesting project, as fans have been looking forward to seeing the young stars play lead roles in a film. It looks like we will get to watch Aditya Karikalan and Nandhini's sizzling chemistry once again in this upcoming romantic drama.
Santhosh made his acting debut with Ponniyin Selvan; this will be his second film. Meanwhile, Sara, who rose to fame as a child artist, will be seen next in Jersey director Gowtam Tinnanuri's musical drama, Magic. The teen musical drama’s music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander and will be released in theatres in Tamil and Telugu in the summer of 2024.
