The year 2022 has been a special one for Karthi. The actor has had three back-to-back hits including the rural entertainer Viruman directed by Muthaiah, Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan: I and PS Mithran's Sardar. Today, he penned a heartfelt note and thanked his fans for all the support throughout his career.
The statement reads, "2022 has been a special year professionally, as three of my films, "Viruman", "Ponniyin Selvan- I, and "Sardar", were embraced with open arms and showered with great success by my fans, movie lovers and my extended family from all forms of press and media. With all humility, I share the appreciation for this commercial victory with my producers, directors, co-stars and technicians in my films while at the same time, the artist in me is proud to have portrayed such unique and challenging characters, especially Sardar and Vandiyathevan."
The actor added that he will keep pushing the boundaries. "I promise to keep pushing boundaries and continue to entertain my ardent fans and audience with quality films in 2023 and many years to come."
Karthi is currently shooting for Raju Murugan's Japan and the actor will be seen in a quirky avatar in the film. The film has Anu Emmanuel playing the leading lady and is being bankrolled by DreamWarrior Pictures. Karthi had shared his excitement about being part of the film. He wrote on his social media handle, "Excited to start this journey of a quirky guy! #Japan - Made in India. #JapanFirstLook (sic)."
In the meantime, the actor is also gearing up for the sequel to Ponniyin Selvan in which the actor portrays Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan, the commander of the Chola Army. The makers had recently announced that the film is gearing up to hit screens on April 28 along with a glimpse of the sequel. Ponniyin Selvan is bankrolled by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.
