As Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan gears up to hit screens, the Ponniyin Selvan team comprising Chiyaan Vikram (Aditha Karikalan), Jayam Ravi (Arunmozhi Varman), Trisha (Kundavai Pirattiyar) and Karthi (Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan) are all set to begin the promotional tour from the ancient town of Thanjavur. The team, we hear, will be meeting the fans at the iconic Brihadeeswara temple and meet their fans there.

The buzz is that fans are gearing up to give the onscreen Cholas a warm welcome in the heritage town. Taking to his social media handle, Vikram wrote in Tamil that they are set to meet the fans in the town and invited his co-stars along. However, Karthi wrote that since he was down with fever, he wouldn't be able to join the event in Tanjore. After Tanjore, they will be visiting other parts of the state and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Queen Nandini) will be joining them during the promotions in the north.

Ponniyin Selvan is an adaptation of Kalki's novel of the same name, which was penned in the 1950s. The novel is said to be a legendary work by the writer and it had been everyone's dream to adapt it on screen, right from MG Ramachandran. The film is being released in two parts and the shoot for both portions have been wrapped up. The first part is all set to hit screens on September 30 in theatres across the world and in five languages, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

Music for the film is by AR Rahman and the soundtrack and trailer was released in a grand audio launch. Cinematography is by Ravi Varman, editing by Sreekar Prasad and art direction by Thotta Tharani. The film has been jointly bankrolled by Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies and Subaskaran's Lyca Productions. In the meantime, we hear that a leading OTT platform has acquired the digital rights for the film for a whopping sum. However, it is not confirmed yet.
