The team of Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 2 today took fans by surprise as they dropped a brand new trailer from the film. The trailer shows Nandini (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) plotting the assasination of the three Chola warriors, including Aditha Karikalan (Vikram) and Arunmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi).

While Aditha Karikalan argues that he cannot let the Chola kingdom split, Kundavai tries to prevent him from going to Kadambur. The trailer also shows the face-off between Nandini and Aditha Karikalan at the Kadambur palace.

Many have called the film's new trailer, a goosebumps-inducing one and some have stated that this trailer could have been released first to pique the curiosity among fans. On the box office front, the film has collected Rs 150 crore in a span of three days worldwide, thus registering a massive opening.

In the meantime, a bunch of Karthi fans have travelled all the way from Japan to watch Ponniyin Selvan 2  with the local audience in Chennai. They later met Karthi at his residence.  Pictures of Karthi with his die-hard fans are doing the rounds on the internet. What's interesting is that Karthi is currently working on a film titled Japan!

On the other hand, a special screening of the film was held in Mumbai today. The list of guests who attended the screening include Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Manisha Koirala, Anil Kapoor, Kartik Aryan, Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh, Sayani Gupta, Shriya Saran, Sham Kaushal, along with Mani Ratnam and Suhasini Mani Ratnam.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 is the second instalment of the Mani Ratnam duology, which is an adaptation of Kalki's eminent novel of the same name. The film hit screens on April 28 and opened to positive reviews from critics and audience alike.

The film has an ensemble cast which includes Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Karthi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prakash Raj, Sarathkumar, Ashwin Kakumanu, Jayaram, Parthiban, Vikram Prabhu, Prabhu to name a few.
