With less than a few hours for director Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 2 to hit screens, film buffs and fans of the epic novel are making a beeline to theatres and booking platforms to seal their seats for the show. Though fans had expected the movie to have an early morning release, the FDFS of the historical fiction is only at 9am across theatres in Tamil Nadu.
It looks like the government hasn't given permission for early morning shows and hence, fans will have to make do with the show at 9am. This has come as a disappointment to those who wanted to catch the film before they headed to work and their respective assignments, since Friday is a working day. The shows are being booked fast and furious across theatres worldwide.
However, in the neighbouring states of Kerala and Karnataka, early morning shows around 5am and 6am are being screened.
The team of Ponniyin Selvan, too, is promoting their film in a big way. The last leg of the Chola tour, which was spearheaded by the lead star cast including Vikram, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Sobhita Dhulipala, came to an end yesterday with an outing to Trichy. Mani Ratnam, the captain of the ship, himself was present at the do.
Meanwhile, the team has been leaving no stone unturned to promote the film. In the US, the makers have been doing the publicity for the Chola fiction with hot air balloon, skydiving. The team recently promoted the film at the Statue of Liberty in the US as well, along with NASDAQ and Hollywood. In many other parts of India, the film will be released in 4DX and IMAX as well.
Music for the film is by AR Rahman, cinematography by Ravi Varman, editing by Sreekar Prasad, art direction by Thotta Tharani and costumes by Eka Lakhani. Ponniyin Selvan 2 will be released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada across the world.
