Now, after the massive success of the Ghilli re-release, another Vijay starrer is gearing up to hit the big screens yet again. As per the recent updates, the actor-politician's much-loved action thriller Pokkiri is all set to have its grand re-release this month in 4K format. The makers of the Prabhudeva directorial officially announced the exciting update recently.
Thalapathy Vijay’s Pokkiri re-release date revealed
As per the recent updates, it has been confirmed that the much-loved action thriller film is gearing up to have a massive global re-release on June 21, 2024. The makers of Pokkiri decided to release the blockbuster film in theatres yet again in June as a part of leading man Thalapathy Vijay’s 50th birthday celebrations. The exciting update has left the fans of Tamil cinema’s biggest crowd-puller, as well as the cine-goers, highly excited. Ahead of the massive global re-release, the team might also drop a brand-new special teaser of the Prabhudeva directorial very soon.
Vijay’s birthday plans
Earlier, The Greatest Of All Time, the upcoming Thalapathy Vijay starrer which marks the actor’s second last release before his official political entry, was expected to release around the time of his 50th birthday. However, the release of the Venkat Prabhu directorial has been delayed due to its extensive post-production work. Instead, Vijay fans and followers are planning to celebrate their idol’s birthday with the Pokkiri re-release. Some major updates on both Vijay’s films and political careers are expected to be out around his birthday.
Pokkiri on OTT – Where to watch Vijay’s action thriller?
If you are planning to revisit the iconic action thriller before its theatrical re-release, Pokkiri is currently streaming on the popular OTT platforms Sun NXT and OTTplay Premium. The movie, which is an official remake of the Mahesh Babu-starring Telugu action flick of the same name, went to recreate the magic of its original. Thalapathy Vijay played the central character Tamizh, aka Sathya Moorthi IPS, in the film, which features Asin Thottumkal as the female lead. Prakash Raj played the lead antagonist Ali Bhai in the film, which stars Nassar, Napolean, Vadivelu, Mukesh Tiwari, Sriman Anand Raj, Sriranjini, and others in pivotal roles.
