Sriram, the Roja Poolu find, who recently starred in Ravi Teja’s Ravanasura, will next be seen in a horror drama titled Pindam. Dallas based filmmaker Saikiran Daida makes his directorial debut with the film which features Kushee Ravi as the female lead. Yeshwanth Daggumati of Kalaahi Media is bankrolling the drama. Easwari Rao, Srinivas Avasarala, Ravi Varma too play crucial roles.
Despite being a young team, the team of Pindam has aggressively promoted the film in recent times. The first look, teaser, a song - Jeeva Pindam in addition to a making video have given the right momentum to their campaign. While the makers initially wanted to release Pindam in November, the packed slots have forced them to push for a December release. The team formally announced the release date today.
“Mark your calendar in RED. Coz #Pindam - The Scariest Film Ever is all set for its grand theatrical release on December 15th,” the production house confirmed. Pindam arrives between multiple biggies across industries. While Hi Nanna, Extra Ordinary Man, Gangs of Godavari and Operation Valentine arrive on December 7 and 8, Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki and Salaar are due to arrive for the Christmas weekend.
Pindam only gets one week to prove its worth in theatres and amidst the massive releases, it could either get sandwiched or emerge as an alternative to other popular choices. The team has asserted that Pindam is a film that’ll stay true to the horror genre without any forced commercial/cinematic indulgences. Saikiran Daida penned the script based on a true story narrated by his grandma during his formative years.
The film will go back and forth across three timelines - 1930s, 1990s besides 2023. Kavi Siddartha has also co-written the screenplay. Saikiran Daida, before Pindam, has directed an award-winning short film titled Smoke. Most of the cast, crew have hailed the director’s clarity with his script and execution during promotions. Will Pindam spring a surprise? We’ll know soon.
