Riteish Deshmukh has officially announced his web series debut, Pill. Raj Kumar Gupta is the director of the upcoming series, which JioCinema will begin streaming on July 12, 2024. The poster suggests that the series is based on the country's pharma industry. In addition to the date announcement, the streaming platform dropped the first look at the actor from the series.
Riteish appears in the motion poster, sporting a bespectacled look, neatly kept hair, and a thick moustache. He is wearing a plaid shirt and standing with a pill in his hand against a laboratory backdrop. With the poster, the actor asks a potent question: "What’s your medicine really made of?"
Check it out below:
This is Riteish's first fiction show on OTT after hosting Case To Banta Hain on Amazon miniTV in 2022. The actor's last movie outing was the 2022 Marathi film Ved, which also marked his directorial debut. Along with Pill, Riteish will also be seen in an OTT film, Kakuda, which is a horror comedy to be streamed on ZEE5 (also on OTTplay Premium).
On the other hand, the 2019 release of India's Most Wanted marked Raj Kumar Gupta's last directorial endeavour. The filmmaker has been shooting Raid 2, the sequel to his 2018 hit, in which Ajay Devgn will be reprising his role as Amay Patnaik. Riteish, who plays the main antagonist, and Vaani Kapoor, who plays the female lead, join the actor this time.
Ronnie Screwvala's home banner, RSVP Films, is producing Pill. Earlier, a source told Pinkvilla that Raj Kumar Gupta has been meaning to tell this tale for some time, and it's fascinating. He went with the digital method because he thinks the long-form format will really bring out the script's best features. A source familiar with the matter revealed that he thinks Riteish Deshmukh would be an excellent main actor, and that filming has already begun in Chandigarh.
Ronnie Screwvala and Raj Kumar Gupta have a fantastic equation in common. Due to their long history of working together on projects like Ghanchakkar, No One Killed Jessica, and Aamir, they are well acquainted with one another.
