Pettaikaali: THESE are the names of Kalaiyarasan and Kishore's characters in the first web series on Jallikattu

The maiden web series on the traditional bull-chasing sport Jallikattu, Pettaikaali, is all set to hit screens on October 21 on Aha Tamil. The rural drama is directed by Rajkumar, a former associate of director Vetri Maaran. Kalaiyarasan, who plays the lead in the web series, will play a bull tamer for the first time in his career. Today, the makers revealed the character posters from the series. 

While Kalaiyarasan's character is named Pandy, Kishore's character is called Muthaiyaa. Parthiban of Merku Thodarchi Malai fame will play another bull tamer called Parthiban, while Sheela Rajkumar will essay the role of Thenmozhi, who rears bulls. While Bala Hasan will play Veerasekaran, Vela Ramamoorthy will be seen as Selvasekharan, the village head of sorts, whom the entire village fears. Going by the trailer, it looks like the series will also explore the caste angle involved in the sport. 

Music for the series is by Santhosh Narayanan and Velraj, who is a regular in Vetri Maaran's projects, has handled the cinematography. In the meantime, the trailer of the series has already crossed 1 million views. 

What's interesting is that Vetri Maaran, who is currently shooting for Soori and Vijay Sethupathi's Viduthalai, is all set to begin work on his next with Suriya, Vaadi Vaasal. The film will also revolve around Jallikattu, and fans are calling Pettaikaali, a prelude to the film. Suriya has even brought two bulls to prepare for his character as a bull tamer. This will be the first time that he will be playing a Jallikattu person in a film. The test look for the film was done earlier this year and since then fans have been waiting for more updates about the film.

While Vetri Maaran is busy with Viduthalai, Suriya currently has his kitty brimming with Bala's Vanangan and Siva's next, which is tentatively being referred to as Suriya42. The film will mark Bollywood actress Disha Patan's debut in Tamil.
