Pepe Teaser: Vinay Rajkumar is gritty, anguished and stoic in the new video glimpse

Vinay Rajkumar's Pepe is among the most awaited Kannada films of 2023 and the reasons seem quite obvious. The young actor plays the role of Pradeepa in this gritty gangster drama and the title of 'Pepe' refers to the street name that he has earned from his peers. The video teaser and other glimpses of the film have already revealed his unflinching character who is embroiled in crime and a lot of bloodshed in a quaint little town.

Fans and film aficionados, however, have grown slightly restless over the lack of any publicity for the film. The first teaser of Pepe, a film written and directed by Shreelesh S. Nair, was released way back in February 2022 and though the video managed to grab the attention of the viewers, one still awaits word on the much-anticipated theatrical release.

Addressing the same in his recent social media interaction, Shreelesh Nair promised to bring out the trailer of the film very soon. And for all those who are ardently waiting to see more of Pepe, the makers have released a new glimpse to showcase the gritty silence of its world.

The new teaser drops on Vinay Rajkumar's 34th birthday and although it doesn't shed much light on the storyline of the film, the striking visuals and Poornachandra Tejaswi's alluring soundtrack captivate us without fail. The discerning composer's use of diegetic sounds to accentuate both the quietness and the disquietness of the world of Pepe is likely to be one of its main highlights and netizens have already begun discussing the unorthodox background score. "Top notch glimpse," said a Twitter user with another user declaring Shreelesh S Nair as the next Duniya Suri in the making. Vinay Rajkumar's look, too, which includes simple, muted colour shirts, lungi and an overall unkempt appearance, has attracted a lot of praise from his fans.

Well, we had certainly hoped to see the new visual glimpse to carry a detail or two about the theatrical release but looks like the wait is set to grow longer. Nevertheless, one does expect Pepe to be gamechanger in the Kannada Film Industry.
