Because we are, and the news today is the one that has left us all supremely excited. We are now on the day where we are finally getting the first look of Peaky Blinders: The Film that has been the talk of the town for a while. Netflix has announced the commencement of production on the film with new stills that give the first look at Cillian as Tommy, and his grey hair is everything that you have been waiting for. Read on to know everything you should about this most surprising update of the day.
Netflix shared two pictures announcing the start of filming for Peaky Blinders: The Film (there is no confirmed title yet). The first picture is of Cillian Murphy sporting his Tommy Shelby look, but one thing has changed, and that is his hair. The detail is so astounding, and we cannot wait to see more. The second image is of him with the creator of the hit Netflix show and the scriptwriter for the film, Steven Knight, possibly on the set of the movie. Fans are going gaga over the stills.
“By order of the Peaky Blinders... Tommy Shelby is back. Cillian Murphy and Steven Knight are reunited on set as production officially starts on the upcoming Netflix film,” wrote Netflix on their official Instagram handle. Check out the stills below.
Tom Harper, known for directing Heart of Stone and also the man in charge of the first few episodes of the show, has been hired as the director for the movie. The script will be written by creator Steven Knight. Caryn Mandabach, Knight, Murphy, and Guy Heeley will serve as producers, alongside Executive Producers Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason. The team will be making the film in association with BBC Film.
Tom Harper, as per Deadline, said, "When I first directed Peaky Blinders over 10 years ago, we didn't know what the series would become, but we did know that there was something in the alchemy of the cast and the writing that felt explosive. Peaky has always been a story about family, and so it's incredibly exciting to be reuniting with Steve and Cillian to bring the movie to audiences across the world on Netflix."
The plot of the film is still under wraps, and there is no way the makers are revealing that so soon. One thing is confirmed: the nature of the movie will stick to the six-season show, considering that it has left a never-fading mark on the audience. However, Steven Knight had earlier told a portal that the movie will be set against the backdrop of World War. Meanwhile, the creators are yet to find a title for it. All the seasons of Peaky Blinders are now streaming on Netflix.
