Fans have been waiting eagerly for the return of Peaky Blinders, led by Cillian Murphy, and the first episode of the crime drama show aired yesterday on BBC One. But many of the fans were left disappointed following the premiere.

Many fans quickly took to Twitter to share their disappointment over how the pictures were too dark, making it difficult for them to watch them

One fan wrote, "So annoying @BBC always make the picture too dark! #PeakyBlinders." Another fan added: "While I love #PeakyBlinders I do find it both difficult to hear and see anything on screen."

There was also some positive feedback for the dark pictures from a section of fans, who liked the “mysterious element” that was added to the show.

The show, which follows the exploits of the Peaky Blinders crime gang in the direct aftermath of the First World War, is on its sixth and final season. The season kicked off with Tommy Shelby (Murphy) and the rest of the family saying goodbye to actress Helen McCrory's character Aunt Polly.

McCrory passed away in April last year after a battle with cancer. Fans also paid tribute to the actor on Twitter after yesterday's episode aired.

While Murphy reprises his role as the fan favourite Tommy Shelby, the other stars who return to the show in its sixth season are Tom Hardy, Paul Anderson, Finn Cole, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Sophie Rundle.

While the final season of the BAFTA-winning show has started airing on BBC One, the release date for its Netflix release is still unknown. Currently, the series’ first five seasons are available to stream on Netflix.
