It looks like Christopher Smith isn’t quite done with keeping the peace just yet. It was announced that Peacemaker has officially been renewed for another season at HBO Max.

The series’ creator, James Gun took to his official social media handles to announce the exciting news. The post included a short clip as well, which featured the show’s cast. In the caption, Gunn thanked the show’s executive producer, Peter Safran, HBO Max, the series’ cast and crew and fans for making the show such a huge success.

Check out Gunn’s post below:

The series follows the story of the titular superhero, an aggressive mercenary so committed to achieving peace that he is, ironically, not above making use of violent methods to do so. The character, which first made appeared in DC comics in 1966, was portrayed by John Cena in Gunn’s 2021 film, The Suicide Squad, who reprises the role in the series. The series is a spin-off of the film, which also features Margot Robbie and Idris Elba in pivotal roles.

The series, which aired the finale of its first season recently, also stars Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick.

Gunn had earlier talked about how he had conceived the series during the initial days of the pandemic in 2020, as a way to distract himself during the isolated time. The well-received series will see Gunn reprise his role as director and writer for its upcoming second season as well.

There have also been reports that Gunn is working on another The Suicide Squad spin-off series, based on a different character. However, the series has not been officially greenlit by HBO Max.
