Pavi Caretaker, Thalavan and more; Here’s a list of Malayalam OTT releases in September

Similar to August, a number of Malayalam films are slated for digital release in September, particularly in light of the Onam holiday. OTT releases of these films are much awaited by movie buffs who could not see them in theatres.

Even though Dileep's films have recently received negative reviews in theatres and minimal online demand, fans of the actor eagerly anticipated the release of Pavi Caretaker on a well-known OTT platform. In the film, Dileep plays Pavithran, a caretaker at a residential apartment block. The unmarried Pavi rents an apartment from the former police officer Mariyamma with his dog, Bro. But when a young woman becomes Pavi's new roommate and moves into Mariyamma's home, everything changes. 

Thalavan

OTT platform: Sony LIV

OTT release date: September 10

Two police officers, CI Jayashankar and SI Karthik, are at odds with one another during the majority of the film. However, things take a dreadful turn when Jayashankar is charged with murder after a corpse is found in his house. In the interim, Karthik is assigned to investigate the case. Whether Jayashankar is truly at fault or merely the target of revenge is the central mystery of the film. With an engrossing plot and superb acting, the movie offers an impressive investigative thriller experience.

Nunakuzhi

OTT release date: September 13

Eby Zacharia becomes entangled in an unforeseen income tax investigation. He finds himself having to approach a problem differently as it starts to become more personal than professional. But things take a strange turn when he meets a movie star, a broken couple, a "deceased" dentist, and a squad of police officers. The film mostly focusses on how hilariously each of them resolves these problems. Its ability to fit the film into an adequate running duration without boring the viewer was one of its strong features.

OTT release date: Yet to be confirmed

Neena Gupta's character looks to be residing in an enigmatic home surrounded by a thick tree canopy in the web series' teaser. She is disturbed by the unsettling visuals of children playing and crying babies all around her. Rahman appears to be playing a character who returns to the residence to discover the reality of the situation. Overall, it does hint at a web series that will definitely give viewers the chills because of its eerie narrative.
