Silambarasan's Pathu Thala has been riding on huge expectations ever since makers unveiled its trailer and songs. The movie which marked the comeback of director Obeli N Krishna was announced as the official adaptation of Sandalwood film Mufti. Gautham Karthik and Priya Bhavani Shankar among others essay crucial characters in it.
AR Rahman's music and Farook Basha's cinematography were expected to be highlights of the gangster drama which hit the screens on March 30. The unexpected special song featuring Sayyeshaa was another factor which made many look forward to the project.
Upon release, Pathu Thala opened to mixed response, albeit it registered a good opening. According to makers, the movie grossed more than 12 crores on day one. After a few days, they announced that it is one of the biggest successes in the career of Silambarasan.
KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green and Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios have jointly bankrolled the movie which has editing by Praveen KL and stunt choreography helmed by R Sakthi Saravanan. Gautham Menon, Santhosh Pratap, Redin Kingsley and Teejay Arunasalam are others who have played important roles in it.
Pathu Thala is dropping on Amazon Prime on April 27, four weeks after its theatrical release. An official announcement has been made on the same now. The film revolves around an undercover cop who sets out to nab a dreaded political kingmaker who has a mysterious side to him.
However, their equation changes after the duo gets to know each other. A veteran politician who is eyeing the post of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister decides to finish off the two of them. What happens next forms its plot.
