Pathu Thala: Makers term the Silambarasan-starrer a grand victory, express gratitude to cast and crew

It's been a week since the Silambarasan-starrer Pathu Thala hit the screens. The movie which was released amid good expectations opened to mixed reports from critics and film buffs alike. The makers officially announced on the second day that the gangster drama grossed 12.3 crores on day one.

The Obeli N Krishna directorial, starring Gautham Karthik and Priya Bhavani Shankar, too, in prominent characters, was expected to be the biggest opener in STR's career ever since the team kicked off its promotions. They organized a success celebration a few days ago and distributor Sakthivelan honoured the cast and crew.  

Studio Green, one of the producers of the film, has now come up with a press note on their Twitter page expressing happiness on the success of Pathu Thala. According to them, the film is one of the highest grossers for Silambarasan as well as the production firm.

The movie is running in 300 screens in Tamil Nadu and 500 screens across the world, as per the press note. They thanked the entire cast and crew and termed the movie's box office performance 'a grand victory'. STR's screen presence and AR Rahman's music are a few highlights of the project.  

Studio Green is currently busy with Suriya 42 and Vikram's Thangalaan. While the former might hit the screens next year, the latter is likely to release this year. On the other hand, Silambarasan is all set to begin the much-awaited STR 48 with Desingh Periyasamy under Raaj Kamal Films International's production.

He might team up with Gautham Menon again for the sequel of Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu which was released last year. An official update on it is awaited.
