It's been four days since Silambarasan TR's latest outing Pathu Thala hit screens. The film, which is a remake of the Kannada film, Mufti, stars Gautham Karthik and Priya Bhavani Shankar in the lead. The film has got a great opening and has received positive reviews from fans and critics. On the box office front, too, the film has been raking in the moolah at the box office. The latest we hear is that the film has minted Rs 20 crore since release in a span of three days.

Though on day 2, the pace seemed to slow down a bit, due to the release of Vetri Maaran's rustic and raw period drama Viduthalai, starring Soori and Vijay Sethupathi, the film picked up soon after. With this amazing run, Silambarasan has scored a hatrick at the box office, after the success of Venkat Prabhu's Maanaadu and Gautham Vasudev Menon's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu. With no big releases lined up for this week, the film is expected to cash in on the extra time until the slew of Tamil New Year releases hit screens.

The team of Pathu Thala recently had a small success celebration and present at the do was Silambarasan, director Obeli N Krishna, producer Gnanavel Raja, editor Praveen KL and distributor Gnanavel Raja. The supporting cast for the film includes Gautham Menon, Redin Kingsley, Kalaiyarasan and Teejay Arunasalam. While music is by AR Rahman, cinematography is by Farook J Basha. Studio Green and Pen Studios have jointly bankrolled the project and the film will have its OTT premiere on Amazon Prime Video, a month after the theatrical release.

Pathu Thala is a gangster flick in which Silambarasan plays a dreaded gangster called AGR and Gautham Karthik plays an undercover cop. The Kannada version, directed by debutant Narthan, had Shiva Rajkumar, Srimurali and Shanvi Srivasatava as part of the star cast.
