And the during the launch AR Rahman revealed a huge secret about himself. He credited Silambarasan's father, T Rajender for a huge change in his personality. Calling the veteran actor, director and producer an inspiration, AR Rahman said, "TR sir is one of my inspirations. I have worked with Ilaiyaraaja sir, MSV sir and KV Mahadevan sir. When I met T Rajendar sir, I was quite an introvert. I saw his style of working and was inspired. It's because of him that I became an extrovert."
When asked about the reason he agreed upon to work on Pathu Thala, AR Rahman said, that there were three. "Firstly, it was for Simbu. The second reason was the film's director Krishna. He has a unique taste in music. One of the biggest songs in my career is Munbe Vaa (which was scored for Krishna and AR Rahman's previous collaboration Sillunnu Oru Kadhal). When I was working on the song, I told him that it sounded way too sad and that it was a good. But he insisted that it was good that it would go on to become a huge hut. It's been almost two decades since that song came out and it's still popular. The third reason is the film's producer (KE Gnanavel Raja)."
