Veteran actor and superstar Shah Rukh Khan is all geared up to make a thumping comeback on January 25th. Having been away from the action for more than 4 years, the King Khan is returning to the big screen with Pathaan, a bona fide mass entertainer that boasts action, romance and a lot more in abundance. He is joined by Deepika Padukone, John Abraham and several others in the Siddharth Anand directorial.
For the die-hard SRK fans, Pathaan's theatrical release is nothing less than a mega event as they wait ardently to witness him in all his glory. And to make things only better, the same enthusiasm is now being translated into box office collections as the advance ticket sales of Pathaan inch toward an all-time high! Yes, as per Box Office India, Pathaan has collected more than Rs. 30 crores nett (as of January 23rd) and is in no mood to apply breaks in its pursuits for eternal glory.
The film has already defeated Brahmastra, War, and several others to become the biggest original Hindi film in terms of advance booking collections. As of midnight of January 24th, Pathaan was behind only KGF 2 and Baahubali: The Conclusion with respect to ticket sales but one can surmise that the film will edge out two south Indian biggies before its scheduled theatrical release on Wednesday, January 25th.
Box Office India also shares that Baahubali 2 managed to collect Rs. 37 crores nett in terms of advance bookings with KGF 2 collecting more than Rs. 42 crores.
Prashanth Neel's K.G.F: Chapter 2 currently holds the record for the highest pre-release collections for a Hindi film and going by the current trends, Pathaan has every chance to breach that mark. KGF 2, the second instalment of the Rocky Bhai saga, was a massive success as the Hindi dubbed version and even scored the highest opening at the box office (for a Hindi film). The film went on to collect over Rs. 1200 crores worldwide.
With the second day of Pathaan's theatrical run being a national holiday
(Republic Day), the film boasts yet another advantage and should the opening day reviews be encouraging & positive, the film will create history at the box office. In Karnataka, though, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer will face stiff competition from Challenging Star Darshan's film Kranti, which is set to release on January 26th.
