The makers of the upcoming Malayalam film, Ullozhukku, confirmed its theatrical release date today (May 31). They announced that the movie will hit the big screen on June 21, along with the first look poster. Parvathy Thiruvothu and Urvashi are playing the lead roles in this film, which is directed by Christo Tomy. His previous work is the true crime show, Curry and Cyanide: The Jolly Joseph Case, which is streaming on Netflix.

The film's poster suggests a flood that has affected the area by showing the two lead actresses' characters stuck in knee-deep water. On the other hand, the tagline "Lies will drown...Secrets will surface" alludes to an engaging story with tense moments. Ullozhukkku, or Undercurrent, is an emotional drama about lies and deceptions in a family and how they influence relationships, according to the director's website. It recounts the tale of a family in Kuttanad, Kerala, who had to wait for the floodwaters to recede before burying a loved one during the monsoon. However, while they wait, a number of lies and secrets come to light, casting doubt on the family's basic foundation.

Significant roles will also be played by actors Shebin Benson, Arjun Radhakrishnan, Veena Nair, and Alencier Ley Lopez in this project. According to earlier reports, Parvathy decided to take on the project right away after finding the script for Ullozhukku to be intense and challenging. The filming of the project was completed in 2022.
With two of India's top performers, Parvathy and Urvashi, in the lead roles, the public has enormous hopes for the movie. Under their production companies, RSVP and MacGuffin Pictures, Ronnie Screwvala, Honey Trehan, and Abhishek Chaubey have bankrolled Ullozhukku. The film's original score and soundtracks were composed by Sushin Shyam. The storyline of Ullozhukku was selected as the winner of the 2018 Cinestaan India Storyteller Contest by a jury comprising Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan.
