The film stars Salman Khan as a love guru, Prem, a character who effortlessly maneuvered through life's romantic misadventures with wit and warmth. He is on a mission to help his friend Bhasker to find a girlfriend. The film left an indelible mark on audiences worldwide. Besides Salman and Govinda, the film starred Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta as their love interests.
Salman and Govinda's banter in the film was appreciated by the audience as well as the songs from the film, especially "Soni De Nakhre" and "Do U Wanna Partner" became instant hits. Made on a budget of 28 crore, Partner became a box office success by earning 100.91 crore worldwide. The film became the fourth highest-grossing Hindi film of 2007 and the second biggest domestic opener.
Earlier, in an interview, Sajid, of the music composer duo Sajid-Wajid, recalled that Salman Khan put in some extra effort to match up to Govinda for Partner. “If you watch the songs of Partner, you will notice that Salman is dancing more perfectly than Govinda. Even though Salman bhai usually doesn’t do that much, he would just move on the beat but because Govinda was there, he practiced too much,” he said.
