The trailer of Parking suggests a relatable narrative focused on the common struggle of finding a parking spot, but its box office success faced unexpected hurdles.
Despite receiving positive reviews and strong word-of-mouth promotion, Parking faced setbacks at the box office due to the flooding situation in Chennai. And the film was unable to fully capitalize on its critical acclaim as the city grappled with inundation caused by rains unleased by Cyclone Michaung.
The story revolves around Harish Kalyan's character, Eshwar, an ordinary man working in in the tech industry. Living the quintessential Indian middle-class dream with his wife in a rented house in Chennai, Eshwar's life takes a hit when he purchases a new hatchback. The joy of his acquisition is short-lived as he encounters unexpected challenges while seeking a safe parking spot for his prized possession.
The seemingly trivial struggle escalates dramatically when Eshwar clashes with his elderly neighbour, Ilamparuthi, played by M. S. Bhaskar, over the parking spot.
