Pappachan Olivilaanu on OTT: 4 Saiju Kurup comedy films to watch before the OTT release

Saiju Kurup has been impressing audiences with his comedic performances. The actor has been essaying rural characters of late, and his natural acting style, coupled with his witty dialogue delivery, has been well received.  In his latest film, Pappachan Olivilaanu, Saiju once again plays a rustic character. The film is directed by Sinto Sunny and features an ensemble cast including Srindaa, Vijayaraghavan, Aju Varghese, and Jagadish.

Pappachan Olivilaanu will be available to stream on Saina Play starting September 14. Before the film's OTT release, here's a look back at some of Saiju's other comedy films that you can stream.

Janaki Jaane: Disney+ Hotstar

In this comedy film directed by Aniesh Upaasana, Saiju plays a man whose wife has a panic disorder. While the movie centres around the character Janaki (Navya Nair) and her attempts to overcome her fear of darkness. Saiju's humorous scenes make it an entertaining watch. His scenes with Navya have many moments that are sure to make you laugh out loud.

Upacharapoorvam Gunda Jayan: Amazon Prime Video

In director Arun Vaiga's comedy-drama, Saiju plays a former goon named Jayan. The story revolves around a wedding and the chaos that ensues with the arrival of certain relatives and individuals who aim to disrupt the event. The film has hilarious performances by actors Hareesh Kanaran, Sudheer Karamana, Biju Sopanam, and Johny Antony. Although Saiju's role as a retired goon is serious, the humour is created by the situations that he finds himself in.

Janamaithri: Amazon Prime Video

Saiju has delivered one of his best comic performances in director John Manthrickal's film. The slapstick comedy also stars Indrans, Sabumon Abdusamad, Vijay Babu, and Irshad. The story revolves around the Kerala Police's efforts to improve their public image through a people-friendly project that becomes a headache for them due to Samyukthan (Saiju). Most of the movie relies on situational humour.

Enkilum Chandrike: Amazon Prime Video

Enkilum Chandrike is a vintage comedy that bears similarities to the early films of filmmaker Priyadarshan. The plot revolves around the members of a local arts and sports club. Saiju plays Abhi, who has an unrequited love for Chandrika (Niranjana Anoop). However, when Abhi learns that his fellow club member, Bibeesh (Abhiram Radhakrishnan), intends to marry Chandrika, he decides to stop the wedding at any cost. The cast also has other popular names such as Basil Joseph and Suraj Venjaramoodu, whose performances form the backbone of Enkilum Chandrike.
