Suriya's Etharkkum Thunindhavan, which hits the screens on March 11, is his theatrical release after more than two years. Though he was part of projects like Soorarai Pottru, Navarasa and Jai Bhim, his fans have been impatient to watch him on the big screen. This is also the much-expected commercial outing of the actor after a short hiatus.
Sun Pictures, which bankrolled the project, has now released a video in which the movie's director Pandiraj has thanked the audience for the love they have showered on the film. Though Suriya was seen in the filmmaker's Pasanga 2 and Kadaikutty Singam, this is the star's first full-fledged movie with him.
Pandiraj said, "I'm glad that the movie has opened to positive reviews from critics and the audience alike. What makes me even more happy is the manner in which the film's message has been discussed on social media. I can say with pride that we pulled off what we intended to showcase."
He added that the content of the project is such that it isn't a mere commercial film as it has addressed women safety and related pertinent issues which need immediate attention.
"I'm happy that some of the important dialogues are receiving good responses from the audience. As a filmmaker, it was a satisfying experience to watch the viewers enjoy your movie. I have to thank all the artists for their cooperation, including Suriya, Sathyaraj, Saranya, Soori, Vinay Rai and Pugazh among others," he added.
He also extended thanks to Sun Pictures for trusting him and offering a second chance to him after the success of Namma Veetu Pillai. Pandiraj also recollected how producer Kalanithi Maran assured him of the success of Etharkkum Thunindhavan when the latter heard the movie's story for the first time.
