Acting as a profession is quite tricky and tough. No one knows where their next paycheck is coming from and after how long. In this case, every actor has to fight a battle not just to stay relevant but also to survive the jungle that they have entered. Durgesh Kumar known for playing Bhushan in Panchayat, has been in the business for a while and has now finally got the recognition that he deserves and was long due. But this comes after a long struggle which also includes him succumbing to the situation and opting for soft porn movies to earn money so that he can survive. The actor now recalls those days and talks about how he is not an Irrfan or a Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Durgesh Kumar Makes Shocking Revelation
Durgesh was talking about the breed of actors is actually a crazy community and even the most nuanced of them all are half crazy and they do not disclose it. One doesn't just try this place because it is full of those crazy people. He recalled how he initially only had a single shot in Panchayat Season One that minted into an entire character that was developed over the next two seasons. Talking to TOI, Durgesh Kumar spoke about battling depression for a long time and revealed how one has to be mentally very strong to survive here. "This is no place to try. This place is filled with crazy people. All the successful people you see today, including Manoj Bajpayee and Pankaj Tripathi, who were my seniors at the National School of Drama or even Nawazuddin Siddiqui, they are all half crazy people, nobody discloses this.”
He further added, "This is the kind of struggle and dedication it takes to survive in the industry. It feels embarrassing to go out for random auditions after having worked in films, especially after the casting directors recognize you. I just had one day’s role in Panchayat season 1. I shot for just 2.5 hours. I am really thankful to Chandan Kumar and Deepak Kumar Mishra who wrote the ‘Banrakas’ role. I am glad. I am not Irrfan, Nawazuddin, I am an average actor with a survival instinct in me."
Concluding his answer in the same interview, the Panchayat star confessed to doing soft porn films for money. "I can’t live without acting. I did any work that came my way because I was confident in my abilities,” he said. The actor now has a stable role in Panchayat and certainly a glorious future.
