Mrinal Sen’s film Kharij was released in 1982. Koushik Ganguly was inspired to make his upcoming film Palan by watching Kharij. He took this inspiration to make a sequel to Kharij. It was his tribute to Mrinal Sen on his birth centenary. There is the touch of Maestro as well in the casting.

There is an old house. The plasters of the walls are falling apart. Memories of happiness and grief are thickly layered with each piece of the plaster. How can one forget the emotions deeply rooted in such a house? Koushik plans to showcase daily lives through those pangs and sorrows in the trailer of his upcoming film, Palan.

There are relationship complications and fights over the house. Koushik made a story layered in relationships and their complexities. Anjan Dutt and Jisshu Sengupta play father and son in Palan. Paoli plays Jisshu’s wife.

Anjan, Mamata Shankar, and Srila Majumder acted in Kharij. They are elated to reprise their roles in Palan. Mamata Shankar told the news media, “Working with Mrinal Sen is an unforgettable memory. I still feel like giving the first shot for the film Mrigayaa whenever I stand in front of the camera.”
