If there’s one experienced actor in Malayalam that you can count on to pull off different roles convincingly, it’s got to be Kunchacko Boban. Over the past few years, the star has proved that he is willing to push his boundaries and that has made him both the darling of critics as well as the audience. Nna Thaan Case Kodu and Nayattu are proof enough. Kunchacko will be on track to repeat the feat again in his next two releases, with Padmini and Chaaver.
His first release in July will be the comedy entertainer Padmini, which is helmed by Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam maker Senna Hegde and is scripted by Kunjiramayanam writer Deepu Pradeep. The July 7 release, which has him essaying the role of a lecturer who becomes the butt of all jokes after finding himself in an embarrassing situation, is a comedy-drama that also has Madonna Sebastian, Aparna Balamurali and Vincy Aloshius.
Kunchacko’s previous two films of the genre – Bheemante Vazhi and Nna Thaan Case Kodu – did well at the box office as well as won the actor a lot of praise for his performances. With Senna at the helm, the upcoming too is expected to be a laugh riot, with the veteran actor set to bring his A-game.
Unlike Padmini, his next release Chaaver, which is directed by Ajagajantharam maker Tinu Pappachan, is a political thriller. Scripted by Joy Mathew, it will be a far cry from his previous such films including Pada and Nayattu as Tinu’s signature style that weaves fast-paced action and gritty visuals is sure to make this a treat for the audience in theatres.
The movie, which also has Arjun Ashokan and Antony Varghese in pivotal roles, has Kunchacko essaying the role of a wanted 47-year-old named Ashokan. The gritty action avatar of the star is sure to showcase another acting dimension of Kunchacko, who has also recently wrapped up shooting for Jay K’s Grrr.
