The streaming rights of Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam and 1744 White Alto director Senna Hegde’s upcoming comedy-entertainer Padmini has been sold to a major OTT platform, even before its theatrical release.

The movie, which is scripted by Kunjiramayanam writer Deepu Pradeep, is touted to be a comedy entertainer that has Kunchacko Boban essaying the role of a college lecturer, who is also a poet. The plot revolves around an incident that happens in his character Rameshan’s life and how he learns to move on from it, with the support of his family friends.

Padmini, which is set in a village in Palakkad, also has Aparna Balamurali, Madonna Sebastian and Vincy Aloshius as its lead actresses, with Ganapathy, Althaf Salim and Anand Manmadhan, who had also starred in Senna’s 1744 White Alto, also playing supporting roles.

In an earlier interview, Senna had said that Deepu had approached several directors with the script but the movie didn’t quite take off. Senna then had heard the script and had suggested a few changes, after which it went on floors late last year. Jakes Bejoy is the composer of the film, which also has Kunchacko Boban making his playback debut through the song Love You Muthe that he has rendered with Vidhyadharan master.

Padmini’s OTT rights were snapped by Netflix a few months ago, along with Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Sesham Mike-il Fathima, which is also set to release in theatres in July. Both movies are expected to begin streaming on Netflix in August.

Meanwhile, Kunchacko Boban is also part of another major release in July – Tinu Pappachan’s Chaaver. The film, which will have him in an action avatar, is expected to hit theatres on the third week of July. Chaaver, which is scripted by Joy Mathew, also has Antony Varghese and Arjun Ashokan in pivotal roles.
