Padmini on OTT: 4 Reasons to stream Kunchacko Boban, Aparna Balamurali's comedy entertainer

Padmini is a comedy entertainer, helmed by Senna Hegde and featuring Kunchacko Boban, Aparna Balamurali, Vincy Aloshious, and Madonna Sebastian in lead roles. The film tells the story of Rameshan, a college lecturer who becomes a laughing stock after his wife elopes on the day of marriage. The movie was well received at the box office as a fun-filled romantic drama and also as a social commentary.

Senna Hegde is known for his film Thinkalazchcha Nishchayam, which stands as one of the best comedy entertainers in Malayalam. The film is a good satirical take on the patriarchal system and stresses themes like arranged marriages and democracy in families. Regarding Padmini, while the director intends for his film to be regarded as a standard commercial film, he has nevertheless attempted to expose certain traditional societal viewpoints.

Writer Deepu Pradeep is known for h is situational humour and elements, which a common man can relate to. His previous work in the comedy genre was Kunjiramayanam, the debut directorial of Basil Joseph. The movie was similar to the vintage comedy movies in Malayalam that were set against the backdrop of a rural setting. But when we come to Padmini, the characters are given a lot more graphs, unlike the quirky ones in Kunjiramayanam.
