Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama, Padmaavat, hit the silver screen in 2018. The film, starring Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, was mired in a lot of controversies before its theatrical release. However, the film performed exceedingly well at the box office. As the film is about to complete 7 years, the makers have decided to re-release Padmaavat on the big screen. Today, the makers of Padmaavat announced the film's re-release date.
Viacom18 Studios announced Padmaavat's re-release date on social media. Ardent fans of this film will be able to revisit this epic tale on January 24, 2025. Interestingly, the Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh-starrer is set for a re-release, only a day before it completes 7 years since its original release.
While sharing Padmaavat's poster, the makers captioned the post: "Witness the epic tale on the big screen again. Padmaavat in cinemas on 24th January (sic)." For the uninitiated, Deepika played the role of Rani Padmavati in the film while Shahid Kapoor was seen as Maharawal Ratan Singh. On the other hand, Ranveer essayed the character of Alauddin Khilji.
Earlier, in an interview with Scroll, Ranveer Singh spoke about playing the role of Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat. The actor said, "What really clicked was that me and Mr Bhansali came together to have a blast with the character. I cannot say that I didn’t thoroughly enjoy myself. I created a base for the character and on set, Mr Bhansali would add some layers, I would add some layers, he would come with so many ideas. It is about how much we enjoyed collaborating and creating this unique character in the gamut of films today, especially by a leading man."
