Paatal Lok Season 2 was released on Amazon Prime Video on January 17. Starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Ishwak Singh, Tillotama Shome, and others, the second season has received positive reviews on social media. Created by Sudip Sharma and directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware, the series Imran Ansari (Ishwak Singh) investigates the 'high profile' case while Hathi Ram Chaudhary (Jaideep) is tasked with finding the missing husband of Jamna Paar slum woman Geeta Paswan. Days after the release, Ali Fazal, popularly known for his Mirzapur role, reviewed Paatal Lok 2 and also expressed his gratitude as Mirzapur has become the highest-watched content of 2024 among all platforms.
Ali Fazal praises Paatal Lok 2
On January 24, Ali Fazal took to his Instagram account and shared a long post. It features the actor expressing gratitude as his Mirzapur series has become the most-watched content of 2024, among all platforms. Next, he reviewed Jaideep Ahlawat's Paatal Lok Season 2.
He said, "Yesterday i finished watching paatallok and i think its the best damn show ever to come out of the subcontinent. I think narratives experienced are more valued than those witnessed( i think i mean it in the view and feel it way, dont go out really experiencing shit plz)."
Regarding Mirzapur achieving the milestone, the actor wrote, "As Mirzapur becomes the highest watched content of 2024 among all platforms i am reminded of the sheer goodness and craftmenship we all have shared over the years amongst us enthusiasts."
He said that it has been a year of waking up and smelling the beans and they have learned to slowly champion each other rather than hate.
The post also featured the actor posing with his Mirzapur co-stars, Shweta Tripathi and Shriya Pilgaonkar. He penned that they randomly meet up here and there. "There are some amazing photos i have with everyone from Mirzapur but then i’ll have to release a freakin coffee table book - you’ll have to wait for that. And they all know i love them more than i can show."
Paatal Lok Season 2 cast
Jaideep reprised his police officer role, Hathi Ram Chaudhary. Abhishek Banerjee was seen in his Vishal 'Vish' Tyagi, also referred to as Hathoda Tyagi role. On the other hand, Ishwak Singh as Imran Ansari, Gul Panag as Renu Chaudhary, Neeraj Kabi as Sanjeev Mehra, and others received praise.
Meanwhile, Tillotama Shome joined the cast of Paatal Lok Season 2 along with Nagesh Kukunoor and Jahnu Barua.
