Aparna Das, who played an important role in the Vijay-starrer Beast, will be the leading lady of Dada, featuring Kavin of Bigg Boss Tamil 3 fame. Filmmaker Pa Ranjith had unveiled the title, and first look poster of Dada, recently on social media. The poster features Kavin carrying a baby amidst a crowd.
Touted to be a family entertainer, Dada is directed by Ganesh K Babu. The director was quoted saying in the Times of India, "Everyone would have mentioned 'Dada' or come across the word at least once in their lifetime. Besides, the title has a lot of significance and relevance to the script!"
Filmmaker-actor K Bhagyaraj and Aishwarya will play Kavin's parents. And, both of them were seen together in Rasukutty; 30 years ago. The film was helmed by Bhagyaraj himself. Apart from these two, Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee fame Harish and Pradeep Antony will be playing important roles in Dada.
Elaborating further on Dada, Ganesh had told the Times of India, "Youngsters of today are super fast and have a different attitude towards relationships. When we were dating, we would take, at least, a year to speak to our crush. But this generation is quite courageous. Not just relationships, their outlook on life is different than ours. This has always intrigued me and I wanted to do a film that would reflect their lifestyle. We are looking to finish the Dada shooting in and around Chennai."
Ganesh had told how Kavin was his first and only choice for the role. "He’s my junior in college and we’ve been friends for a while. When I finished the script, I didn’t look beyond him. I needed a fresh cast with no image per se, and he was perfect. Also, it was Kavin, who put me on to Aparna Das. I saw some of her Malayalam films and found her convincing. I then narrated the story and she was eventually on board."
