OTTplay Awards 2025: Sidhant Gupta Wins Versatile Performer Of The Year for Freedom At Midnight and Black Warrant

The transition from television to films and streaming is, and will always be, a hot topic of conversation in India. There are a few actors who have gone the extra mile to prove that their art is not bound to a format but is truly versatile. One of them is Sidhant Gupta, who has proved his mettle in various streaming shows. This year, in particular, the actor has delivered two stellar performances with Black Warrant on Netflix and Freedom At Midnight on SonyLIV. Turns out, the actor has now won the Versatile Performer Of The Year (Male) award at the OTTplay Awards 2025. Read on to know everything about the same.

Sidhant Gupta Wins Versatile Performer Of The Year for Freedom At Midnight and Black Warrant

In Freedom At Midnight, Sidhant Gupta plays Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the late former Prime Minister of India. The show follows the final leg of India’s freedom struggle up until the partition that divided the country into India and Pakistan. In Black Warrant, the actor embodies Charles Sobhraj, the infamous criminal who was imprisoned in Tihar Jail. The show follows the story of Sunil Gupta, the jailer at Tihar, with Sidhant portraying Charles, who becomes Sunil’s aide.

Sidhant walked the red carpet at the OTTplay Awards 2025 to receive the Versatile Performer Of The Year trophy tonight. It was presented by actor Eli Avram and Himanshu Khanna (Chairman Prop shop) and Raghav Mishra (Joint MD Prop shop). 

Talking about bagging the honor at the event, Sidhant Gupta said, “Thankyou OTTplay for encouraging me. In my wildest dream I couldn't imagine playing Jawaharlal Nehru. I owe this to my directors for seeing the unconventional in me. ”

The OTTplay Awards 2025 also saw the who’s who of the Indian OTT space in attendance, celebrating the theme "One Nation, One Award." From Rakesh Roshan for The Roshans to Nikhil Advani for Freedom at Midnight, various artists were honored at the award function. The OTTplay Awards became the most star-studded night of the month.
