Congratulations Rajshri Deshpande and the team of Trial By Fire! On Sunday evening, Rajshri Deshpande won the Breakthrough Performance Award for her performance in the web series, Trial By Fire, at OTTplay Awards 2023. The glitzy award ceremony was held at a lavish hotel in Mumbai which saw several celebrities decked up in style.

Rajshri Deshpande was greeted by actors Aparshakti Khurana and Neha Dhupia - the hosts of the event - as soon as she received the awards. Soon after she received the award, she expressed her gratitude to the cast and crew of the series. 

Receiving the award from Sunny Hinduja, Rajshri would start her speech with Hindi poet Dushyanth Kumar's couplet and later said, "It's all about that 'fire' to be part of good stories and portray good characters. It's the fire to want to collaborate with great artists and it's the same fire that has helped me come thus far. I am really thankful to Netflix who has given us the platform and also thankful to Prashant Nair."

What is special about Trial By Fire?

Step into the intense world of "Trial By Fire," a 2023 Indian crime drama television series co-written by Prashant Nair and Kevin Luperchio, and skillfully directed by Prashant Nair, Randeep Jha, and Avani Deshpande. The stellar cast includes Abhay Deol, Ashish Vidyarthi, Anupam Kher, Rajshri Deshpande, Rajesh Tailang, Ratna Pathak, Shilpa Shukla, Shardul Bharadwaj, and more. This gripping web series takes its inspiration from the book "Trial by Fire: The Tragic Tale of the Uphaar Fire Tragedy," authored by Neelam Krishnamoorthy and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy.

In the series, Rajshri Deshpande essays the role of Neelam Krishnamoorthy. The series can be viewed anytime only on Netflix. “After the deadly Uphaar cinema fire, two grief-stricken parents navigate the loss of their kids and a dogged fight for justice,” describes Netflix about the movie. IMDb describes the series as a difficult yet resilient journey of two parents - Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy, who tried and sought justice for two decades.

Rajshri Deshpande's talent transcended borders as she garnered global acclaim for her role as Laxami in Pan Nalin's "Angry Indian Goddesses." Additionally, her standout performance as Subhadra in the Netflix series "Sacred Games," directed by Anurag Kashyap, earned her widespread critical praise. Deshpande further showcased her versatility by portraying Ismat Chughtai in Nandita Das's film "Manto."
